One Creator

1 Humanity. 1 Purpose. 1 Religion.

Islam — The Religion of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad

What is Islam?

Islam is not named after a person, tribe, or place—unlike Christianity (Christ), Judaism (Judah), Buddhism (Buddha), or Hinduism (Indus Valley). The word Islam comes from the Arabic root Salama, meaning peace and submission.

Islam means submitting fully to Allah—the One True God—and living by His guidance. True submission brings peace: with God, within oneself, and with others.

What Sets Islam Apart

A clear distinction between Islam and other belief systems

Feature / Principle
Islam
Other Belief Systems
Concept of God
One God, without partners or images
Often includes concepts of Trinity (Christianity), multiple gods (Hinduism), or impersonal deities. Only Islam preserves the pure monotheism taught by all prophets from Adam to Muhammad ﷺ.
Role of Prophets
124,000+ prophets, ending with Muhammad ﷺ
Other religions often reject prophethood or limit it to specific cultures. Islam confirms a universal chain of prophets, all teaching Tawheed.
Scripture
Qur'an: final, unchanged, memorized
Other scriptures have been edited, translated with contradictions, or altered. Islam maintains the only preserved revelation word-for-word.
View of Jesus (pbuh)
Prophet and Messiah, not divine
Christianity claims divinity for Jesus. Others reject him entirely. Islam honors him correctly as a Man, Messenger & Mesiah.
Salvation
Through belief + good deeds + God's mercy
Some claim salvation by faith alone (Christianity), rituals (Judaism), or karma (Hinduism/Buddhism). Islam provides the only holistic path balancing belief, action, and divine mercy.
Original Sin
No inherited sin, personal responsibility
Christianity teaches inherited sin from Adam. Hinduism and Buddhism speak of karmic debt. Islam teaches that every soul is born pure, accountable for its own actions.
Direct Connection with God
No clergy, pray directly to Allah
Many systems place intermediaries, saints, or rituals between people and God. Islam maintains the direct, personal connection intended by the Creator.
Afterlife
Clear accountability, Heaven & Hell
Views vary: some are metaphorical, cyclical, or undefined. Islam gives a detailed and just description of the Hereafter based on divine justice.
Universal Message
For all of humanity
Many religions are tribal, racial, or geographically bound. Islam is the only message sent for all people, all times — the true religion of the Creator since Adam.
Preservation
Qur'an preserved word-for-word
Other scriptures underwent human alterations. Only the Qur’an has remained intact and recited by millions without change — a living miracle.
