Why This Question Matters

For many people, belief in God can seem like something based only on tradition or blind faith. Islam approaches the question differently. The Qur’an repeatedly asks people to observe, reflect, and think seriously about their own existence and the creation around them.

Islamic Perspective

The Qur’an points to our existence, the heavens and the earth, and the order within creation as signs of the Creator. It asks whether human beings came into existence without a creator or somehow created themselves, then directs attention to the One who created everything. Islam also teaches that human beings are born upon a fitrah, an innate disposition connected to recognizing and turning toward their Creator. These signs establish the foundation: we are created, and Allah is our Creator and Lord. Learning who Allah is and why He alone deserves worship comes next.
